Praline Recipe

A great praline recipe that will satisfy that need for a sweet treat! There are many variations of praline candy and this is just one of many that you will want to try. This recipe for pecan pralines uses whole pecans for a chunky candy that gives you a declicious taste of pecan in every bite.

Serve to the family or wrap as a pretty gift and give to friends. Everyone will love this delicious homemade candy recipe.



Chewy Pecan Pralines

Ingredients:

2 cups granulated sugar

2 cups light Karo syrup

1 cup whipping cream

1 cup Half and Half

1/2 cup margarine (or butter) melted

1 teaspoon vanilla

9 cups pecans

Directions:

1. Combine sugar and Karo syrup in heavy sauce pan. Cook sugar and Karo syrup mixture to 245 degrees on candy thermometer; remove from heat.

2. While stirring, gradually add whipping cream, Half and Half and margarine. Place back on heat and bring to boil to 242 degrees.

3. Remove from heat and add vanilla and stir to add whole pecans.

4. Drop onto buttered pan or buttered waxed paper by spoonsful and let cool. Wrap individually.

Makes 3 dozen

Tips: After the pralines are cooled, you can place them on a pretty plate and wrap with cellophane or holiday colored plastic wrap and top with a pretty bow for a great gift.

Another idea is to wrap each individual praline with cellophane or plastic wrap and tie with holiday color curling ribbon. Hand out these individual candies to friends and family who drop by during the hooidays.

Of course this delicious praline candy does not have to wait for the holidays. Enjoy it any time you want a special treat.
