Holiday Peppermint Candies

Holiday Peppermint Candies make a wonderful holiday candy treat to have when family and friends drop by!

This peppermint candy is one of those great Christmas candies that also makes a beautiful gift for friends, family, neighbors, teachers or anyone else on your gift list.

Christmas Peppermint Candies

Ingredients:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 Tbs butter or magarine

1 Tbs light corn syrup

1/4 tsp peppermint extract (or few drops of peppermint oil)

4 cups Confectioners sugar

Food coloring - green and red

Confectioners sugar, sifted

Green, red and white icing for decorating (optional)

Directions:

1. Mix cream cheese, butter, corn syrup and peppermint extract in large mixing bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Gradually add 4 cups Confectioners sugar and mix well.

2. Divide mixture into thirds. Knead a few drops green food coloring into first third. Knead a few drops of red food coloring into second third. Wrap each third in plastic wrap.

3. Shape into 1-inch balls, working with 1 color mixture at a time. Place on wax paper lined cookie sheet then flatten each ball. (To flatten balls use bottom of glass that has been lightly dipped in sifted Confectioners sugar.)

4. Repeat with remaining 2 mixtures. Decorate with icing as desired. Store candies in refrigerator.

Tip: For a lovely gift, place candies on a pretty candy plate, wrap in a holiday colored cellophane and top with a pretty bow. Or you can place candies in a holiday tin.

Keep extra on hand for that unexpected gift you need quickly.
